Mountain Fell Peaks seen from Blenheim Lodge B&B | Bowness on Windermere | Cumbria Lake District

It was yesterday, New Year’s Day 2024, that we decided on taking a quiet mid-afternoon walk with our rescue Great Dane, Horatio. There are plentiful trails behind our guest house, Blenheim Lodge, in Bowness on Windermere, with several viewpoints offering 180-360 degree views! The one below shows us with Zack, one of our rescue Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, sadly now departed. This summit viewpoint, Brantfell, offers 360-degree views, and is about 20 minutes’ walk from our door.

This view of Lake Windermere and surrounding fells is but one section of the panorama to be experienced on Brant Fell summit. Indeed, the views are 360-degree in scope! Zack, the rescue Pyrenean Mountain Dog shown in this photo is sadly no longer with us.

We decided to go low level yesterday, partly due to the misty conditions of the day and the potential for rain. So, we walked uphill past The Dales Way Seat, and then continued straight on to the two water ponds at Matson Ground.

It was a lovely relaxing walk, and we had the whole place to ourselves! On the way back, we probably passed only two people! As we returned, the sky began to darken so much that eventually we had to use a torch to see our way back to our home and guest house from the fell. And then, the first few raindrops began to fall! Thankfully, we reached Blenheim Lodge before the rain came down in earnest!

There are other nearby places to explore and enjoy near our guest house. The most famous is, of course, Lake Windermere, which is a 5-minute downhill stroll from our front door. In fact, guests can enjoy views of Lake Windermere and the fells from most of our bedrooms bar one, which overlooks Brant Fell. Take a look at our posts on this platform and you will see plentiful pictures of the views from our bedrooms, and, also of the bedrooms themselves. There is more information about us and our Bed and Breakfast on our website, www.blenheim-lodge.com.
