What to Do
There is so much to do and experience in the Lake District National Park that one can easily run out of time – but what a fabulous reason for re-visiting this gorgeous region to pick up where you left off! Here are a few suggestions of things to do.
Cruise Windermere
Windermere is England’s largest lake and only a stone’s throw from our door. Enjoy a cruise on one of the local ferries!
Horseback Riding
Explore Lakeland’s stunning scenery on horseback.
Canoe on a Lake
Try open canoeing in the Lakes. There are so many lakes to explore!
Mountain Biking
Visit Lakeland’s forests and rent a bike or bring your own. Bike purpose-built trails in Grizedale or Whinlatter, or follow biking trails on Helvellyn or other Lake District fells
Fell Walking
The Lake District’s most iconic activity! Follow Wainwright’s A Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells and bag your own ‘Wainwright’! Do ask if you require a guide.
Ride a Steam Train
Travel back in time with Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway, or choose a shorter route with The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. Relax and have fun!
Visit Lakeland’s Agricultural Shows And County Events
Visit one or more or the Lake District’s county shows. Check out local produce and handcrafted wares.
Dinner & Theatre
How about a romantic evening out at the theatre preceded by a lovely dinner? Bowness boasts The Old Laundry Theatre and Keswick has Theatre by the Lake.
