Answers to common questions

We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions.

Where is Blenheim Lodge B&B?

Blenheim Lodge is quite literally set against an open fell-side on Brant Fell where we are located within a quiet hilltop residential neighbourhood in Bowness on Windermere.

Here’s a little trivia fun! What’s in a name? “Brant” is an adjective for “steep” or “hilly”, and a “fell” is a moor or Lakeland mountain. Hence, Blenheim Lodge being located at the top of Brantfell Road perfectly describes our location: our Lakeland B&B is situated at the top of a steep incline upon a Lakeland fell, and offers glorious Lake and fell views for our guests enjoy!

How far is Blenheim Lodge from Bowness on Windermere and the Lake?

Blenheim Lodge B&B is in Bowness on Windermere. It takes just 2-5 minutes to walk into the centre of Bowness with all its shops, restaurants, attractions and amenities.

Our accommodation at Blenheim Lodge B&B overlooks Lake Windermere and we are just 5-7 minutes’ walk to the lakeshore.

Walking back to Blenheim Lodge may take a little longer as we are located at the top of a steepish hill.

Can I get to Blenheim Lodge by public transport?

Yes, Blenheim Lodge is located just a mile from Windermere Train Station where there is also a Stagecoach bus depot. From the train station, it is but a 5-minute taxi or bus ride to our Bed and Breakfast. When booking a stay with us, we can put you in touch with a local taxi firm that charges a very reasonable fare.

Can we get around the Lake District without our own transport?

Yes, there are lots of places you can visit without private transport. There are timetabled buses that travel across the Lakes and ferries which take visitors from one part of Lake Windermere to another.

Can you help us plan a special getaway or organize activities?

Yes, we will help as best we can. We offer tailor-made breaks, where we can help organize a romantic break for instance: flowers, champagne, a meal on board a yacht or in a fine-dining restaurant etc.

Can you organise transfers?

Yes, we have done this a number of times over the years. We will get in touch with a private taxi driver or bus transfers company on our guests’ behalf and try to get a ballpark figure for the transfers. Where the taxi driver is concerned, we can book the trip for our guests as requested. Where the bus transfers company is concerned, we will liaise with the company as far as we can and then we will need to pass their contact details to our guests so that they can book their transfers directly with their payment details.

Do you serve dinner?

Blenheim Lodge is registered with the local council as a Bed and Breakfast only, so we are unable to serve meals other than breakfast. There are plenty of local restaurants, pubs and bistros to eat at, with many within 5 minutes’ walk of our B&B. Please note that in line with other Bed and Breakfast accommodation providers, we do not provide guest access to our kitchen nor do we allow takeaway food to be consumed at Blenheim Lodge.

Do your rooms have Lake views?

All our rooms have views to the Lake and fells, except for The Dalesway room, which has a view only to Brantfell, the fell into which our Bed and Breakfast nestles. Our rooms are priced according to their sizes and how good the views are from them.

Do you have a car park?

Yes, we do have an on-site private car park which is only available to guests whilst they are staying with us. As with all parking facilities, guests park in our car park at their own risk.

Is The Dales Way close to your B&B?

Yes, The Dales Way long distance footpath is practically next to our Bed and Breakfast. In fact, Blenheim Lodge is the first B&B in Bowness en-route for The Dales Way.

What is your check-in time?

Check-in time is 4 pm. If you wish to arrive earlier or later, please enquire.

We normally ask for an estimated time of arrival, and would appreciate it if you would let us know should your arrival time be delayed beyond 6 pm.  Last check-in time is usually 9:30 pm.

What is your check-out time?

Check-out time is before or by 10 am.

If you are travelling by public transport and your train or bus leaves later in the day, please check out as normal by 10 am. You are welcome to leave your luggage here until you need to pick it up prior to catching your train or bus. If you let us know what time you wish to arrive at the station, we can also book you a cab to take you there from our B&B.

What is the minimum age for children staying at your Lodge?

Well-behaved children of 8+ years are welcome to stay at Blenheim Lodge. Children pay the same rates as adults.
