We love it here, you will too!

In the glorious Lake District National Park, quietly hidden and serenely tucked away upon a fell, lies our characterful Victorian Bed and Breakfast - comfortable, homely, welcoming!

Our Story

We live in a beautiful house of 1868 vintage. Retaining much of its period charm and quietly perched on a hilltop overlooking Old Bowness and Lake Windermere to the mountains beyond, Blenheim Lodge makes for a delightful escape from the hurly burly of life. On our doorstep are acres of National Trust woodland and fields, including pretty footpaths leading to amazing viewpoints. The Dales Way Walk is a minute’s stroll from our door, making ours the first B&B off this popular walkers’ route between The Yorkshire Dales and The Lake District National Park.

Coming from a city, we inevitably fell in love with the serenity and fabulous views of Blenheim Lodge and its central, yet peaceful, location. We like the convenience of having Bowness Town Centre and its amenities just 2-5 minutes’ walk from our door. Picturesque Bowness Pier and its attractions are similarly accessible at approximately 5-7 minutes’ walk. Even more do we enjoy having open countryside just literal steps from our place – indeed, our small garden hedge is the only thing which forms a boundary between vast National Trust acres and our much more modest backyard!

So, our story is really one of gratitude for being able to live in this beautiful landscape. And our wish is to share our 150-year-old home with B&B guests who appreciate fine singular buildings like our sometime former gentleman’s Lakeland retreat, now Blenheim Lodge Guesthouse.

Why Us?

Well, if you are looking for a clean, comfortable, relaxing place to enjoy and lay your head AND a freshly-cooked breakfast of quality local produce . . . then . . .

Imagine an oasis of peace . . . taking time out from the hustle and bustle of your life. A backdrop of woodlands and fields frame our B&B where cows and sheep often graze. Take a deep breath and fill your lungs with fresh clean air. Hear the birds sing as you gaze out your room to glorious views of Lake and fells.

In the blissful stillness of the countryside, you can hear a pin drop! Sometimes shy deer come out at dusk or early morning to graze behind our house or breakfast on the plants in front! At night, owls hoot and batwings flutter in wooded stands.

Look out to see the stars. We have no light pollution here. Fall asleep to the sound of silence. And awake refreshed to a bright new day!
