view of Lake Windermere from lansdale room

The world as we know it has been in a spin since for almost a year now. Life has had to adapt to numerous changes in order to keep people safe and save lives. Most people are adhering to this but many are not. We only need to look at news reports to see this. Unfortunately, the irresponsible many are not helping the current spread of coronavirus, which in turn begs the question, “How can businesses remain open and protect their customers in this uncertain climate?”

Keeping safe

At Blenheim Lodge, we took the approach that we would work with our guests and hoped that they would also work with us in order to keep themselves and us safe. To begin with, we put up our Covid-19 Precautions document on our website before we had even re-opened for business after the first lockdown. Publishing this document meant that anyone wishing to stay with us would have had the opportunity of reading what we were doing first before they booked. I can imagine that some people might have wished for things to remain the same as ever, but we had to make the decision to do things differently whilst also ensuring that our guests would be able to enjoy themselves safely

Breakfast

Two differences have emerged in particular with respect to our breakfasts at Blenheim Lodge. We have a beautiful dining room and guests really enjoyed watching the birds feeding upon the seeds and nuts we left on our hedge. Some of our guests would sit mesmerised for ages, so entertained were they! Other guests commented on the understated beauty and calm in our breakfast room, and told us how much they enjoyed our breakfasts. However, the onset of the pandemic has put paid to our being able to serve breakfast in the same way, and hence we have put up on our website a Temporary Breakfast Menu, I am thankful to say that most guests have been very understanding about the precautions we are taking and many tell us how much they are enjoying our take-out breakfasts.

One of our take-out breakfast choices offers pastry and baked goods. It would, unfortunately, be packed differently, but will nonetheless taste as delectable!

Dining out

Bowness on Windermere village, where Blenheim Lodge is based, offers many restaurants, pubs and cafes. Cuisines available to discerning palates include ubiquitous British fare, as well as Indian, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, and Siamese cuisine. Some local restaurants, including a couple of bakeries, have also begun opening for breakfast. This works well with places like ours, where guests may book breakfasts in these local eateries and have our take-out breakfasts for luncheon when exploring the Lakes. It’s really the best of both worlds, as our take-out breakfasts are nicely packed and ideal for taking out and about.

Opening up again

It’s been an up and down year thus far for us at Blenheim Lodge. Re-opening after the first lockdown was a leery exercise considering the we had never come across such a situation before. Now that we are imminently going into a second lockdown and reopening (supposedly) on 2nd December, we can do so again with a little more confidence, having had some previous experience.

New Year Breaks

We will re-open whenever the government says that we can re-open our Bowness B&B. The Lake District is an amazingly beautiful place to visit all year round, and practically everything stays open 12 months of the year. Hence, there shouldn’t be any difficulties with finding places to eat, visiting places of interest, and simply enjoying the activities and scenery this pulchritudinous part of the world has to offer.

Discounted Breaks

We have continued to keep our prices well below inflation rates at Blenheim Lodge, with very little upward movement at all in our rates. En-suite rooms with views of Lake Windermere and fells start at £79 to £161 depending on whether it is a single, twin, or double room. We have one room which offers triple occupancy for a small excess. Our rates include breakfast.

For best rates, ALWAYS BOOK DIRECT with us though our own website, where you will see the BOOK NOW link on every page. The BOOK NOW link is also on all our Blog posts for easy access. If you have any queries at all about our rooms or any other aspect of our accommodation, please make sure to ask us for clarification BEFORE you book. It may be that we are the best place for your stay; but, conversely, it may not. For instance, if you enjoy quiet and relaxing breaks in a homely atmosphere, then Blenheim Lodge would be right up your street – hopefully! Alternatively, if you prefer a more buzzy feel, then perhaps somewhere else may be a better option.

The Langdale four poster bedroom
The Langdale bedroom offers amazing views from its triple floor to ceiling bay windows and a comfortable deep pocket-sprung queen-size mattress for a comfortable night’s sleep. There is a small shower en-suite.
