It’s 3:25 PM on 28th December 2023 as I begin writing this post. How time flies! The world is less than a handful of days from 2024! What has your year been like?

This is the outstanding panoramic view of Lake Windermere and fells seen by guests staying in The Eyrie bedroom.

For many, including us, 2023 has been a catalogue of the good, the bad, and the ugly. Let’s focus on the good things! They will encourage us as we approach and enter 2024! Let me begin by listing some of the good things that we’ve been blessed with at Blenheim Lodge.

  1. First and foremost, Blenheim Lodge is both our home and guest house open to travellers who enjoy peace and quiet and open views of Lake Windermere and fells. We and our guests continue to enjoy fine aspects from our Bed and Breakfast, and long may this continue!
  2. Secondly, we like the peace and quiet here. It promotes rest and relaxation, and, in the silence, one can hear a oneself think! Falling asleep in our comfy bedrooms on beds topped with handmade pocket-sprung mattresses is one of the top compliments that our guests consistently remark upon. We love hearing that because we’d gone to a lot of trouble and expense to source and buy those beds and mattresses.
  3. Thirdly, Blenheim Lodge is located in an enviable position! Our home and B&B is serenely perched at the top of a hillside lane, a hop, skip, and jump to the farm gate that opens onto the pretty trails and viewpoints upon Brant Fell. There’s no need to get into a car or take a bus in order to explore and enjoy beautiful local landscapes when staying with us at Blenheim Lodge.
  4. Fourthly, guests at Blenheim Lodge are well-served for local amenities and attractions. Just walk the 2-5 minutes downhill from us to the restaurants, pubs, shops, the Beatrix Potter Attraction, and Bowness Bay where the eponymous Windermere Lake Cruises sail from Bowness to Waterhead and Lakeside. The Windermere Ferry, which transports people, cars, bicycles, motorbikes, trailers, and even horses to the opposite shore, is located at Ferry Nab, a very short walk from Bowness Bay.
  5. Fifthly, and just as importantly and conveniently, the A591, hailed as England’s most beautiful motorway, is easily accessible from Blenheim Lodge. Travel it by bus or in a car to enjoy its incredible aspects. Some people do cycle along this road, but it’s a tough one to conquer! Others zoom on a motorbike – a hairy experience!

As I’ve mentioned above, Blenheim Lodge is our home too. Many guests who visit with us at Blenheim Lodge tell us they love the “home from home” atmosphere of our B&B. It helps them relax and feel like they have gotten away from it all! We are a family living in our family house and opening our doors to guests who prefer a homely rather than a star-dusted hotel experience. Over the past 20-odd years, we have also been rescuing dogs, and two currently reside with us: a blue Great Dane and a black German Shepherd. They do not make an appearance before our guests unless the latter request a meet and greet.

Have you visited the Lakes before? If not, you’re in for a treat! And, if you’ve visited before but want to make your base in a different area of this pulchritudinous part of the world, why not phone or email us for more information about our Bowness Bed and Breakfast by using our contact details below? Or check out our website to find out more! Our Bed and Breakfast is bookable online via our website, or over the telephone.
