I looked out of our dining room window at 10:31 PM last night and saw a shimmering lake under dark but light-lined night skies. I tried to take a photo of the Lake from our porch at Blenheim Lodge but the porch light comes on automatically, and, try as I might, I could not get a good photo as my backlit background distorted the awesomeness of the sight before me of a glimmering expanse of water under cover of darkness, save for the area of sky that was still bright from the waning sun.
It wasn’t a sunset as I knew one.
So, I switched off the porch light at the mains, and tried again. Still no luck! The camera’s flash brightened everything up and the result was a grainy photographic mess.
I would never have thought of this before but thought I’d try to take an image of the Lake, sky and fells WITHOUT the flash even though it was dark all around me. IT WORKED! And I took TWO photos just to make sure.
And here they are. I hope you like them too.
