I hadn’t meant to take any photos today, but the views from my windows at Blenheim Lodge beckoned me. It is such a lovely fresh Spring day today: dewy green leaves upon the trees, shrubs and flowering plants; a playful breeze ruffling the leaves on the trees looking like so many waving feather dusters; natural sounds of birds calling and neighbourhood dogs desultorily conversing. I sit here in our guest lounge, looking out from triple bay windows upon those same dancing leaves whilst avians swoop past my vision from time to time. It is so peaceful here, surrounded as I am by a sweet settled calm.

And here are the photos that I took from our accommodation at Blenheim Lodge today. Some of the colours are so Springtime vivid, they look like they could have been painted!

Here is the expanse of Windermere as I looked from left to right out of the Velux window in The Attic bedroom.

Why not come and join us here in Bowness-on-Windermere? Get onto the Lake at Bowness Bay, a 5-minute walk from our front door: ride the ferries; sail and feast on a yacht – indeed, handle a yacht (we can help arrange this); or hire a small water vessel to explore on your own.

When you are on terra firma again, there are a host of other activities to take part in: meander along the paths from Bowness Bay to Cockshott Point by Windermere lakeshore; climb a fell (there’s one just at the back of our house – indeed, our B&B nestles into Brantfell); tuck into delicious local produce offered by myriad places to eat and drink in Bowness; tread the shopaholic catwalk on the high street (there are lots of shops with lovely things to tempt you!); watch the latest films or special showings in Bowness’ characterful 1926 Royalty Cinema; and so on.

These shops are about a 2-minute walk downhill from our B&B guest house, Blenheim Lodge. (www.visitcumbria.com/amb/bowness-on-windermere.htm)
