I was never so chuffed as to receive an email from one of our talented guests who has recently had her painting of the view from her room selected by an art gallery. Donna and her husband came to stay with us earlier this year, and were just the most wonderful, considerate, and friendly guests. We really enjoyed having them with us. Then, after their return, I corresponded with Donna and, lo and behold, she surprised me with her rendition of this view from her room. I have asked her permission to share it, so here it is:
Donna’s rendition of the view from her room is indeed very accurate. In the bedroom are a couple of easy chairs and a table. I can imagine Donna industriously painting the view above from her vantage point. Can you see, in the foreground on the right, the houses and trees that Donna painted in, with the fells in the background?
And here is a photograph of the same view taken in June from The Langdale room, where Donna and her husband spent some nights with us at Blenhein Lodge. This view can also be seen from most of our Lake-facing rooms at Blenheim Lodge.
Here is a photograph of the room that Donna and her husband stayed in.
I hope Donna does well at the gallery, although she has said that she would be sad if someone did buy it as it holds sentimental value for her. Nevertheless, whether she sells it or not, we do congratulate her on achievement. After all, not everyone who paints a scene gets his or her painting accepted by a gallery. Congrats, Donna!
