Grizedale Stages Rally is happening tomorrow in the Lake District National Park. It will be the 27th such event this 21st November 2015 and it should prove exciting for car rally aficionados. Up to 75 crews are taking part, and hopefully the weather will co-operate. Certainly, our Lakeland weather is looking good right now after some days of voluminous downpours.

Here is more information about the Grizedale Stages Rally:

Grizedale Stages Rally 2015 will take place on Saturday 21st November 2015. It will start from Coniston but much of the other activity – trailers, scrutineering, signing-on, main service – will be based at Skelwith Fold caravan park. . . .

Whilst the rally has a familiar 41 stage miles and 43 road miles, the stage routes in Grizedale are all-new.

Scrutineering and Signing On will take place on Friday evening and Saturday morning at Skelwith Fold. Trailers and Service barges can be left here, in situ ready for main service on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday morning the start will be from the Coniston main car park, with 1st car away at 09:30hrs.

We take an all-new route from Dunnerdale to Grizedale with time allowed for emergency service. Two stages of 9.5 and 8.5 miles in length run in Grizedale West. These are repeated after Main Service back at Skelwith Fold.

The last car is expected at MTC2 at Skelwith Fold around around 15:00hrs.

Grizedale Forest is only 20 minutes’ ride from Bowness-on-Windermere, where our guest house, Blenheim Lodge B&B, is situated. It is a forest playground that offers a number of recreational pursuits, including Go Ape treetop activities, Segway and mountain biking trails, forest walks and art installations, etc. Spectators who wish to attend the Grizedale Stages Rally will find Blenheim Lodge Bed and Breakfast a convenient and comfortable base for enjoying this event and other Lakeland activities and attractions.

This weekend also sees the Ambleside Lantern Parade in action. This annual event takes place every third Saturday in November and this year, there is a whole programme of events mapped out for the day. (www.amblesidechristmaslights.co.uk/frame.html) The Grizedale Stages Rally will finish in time for rally goers to make it to Ambleside, where they can observe this small town becoming illuminated both by Christmas lights and fireworks. Ambleside is easily accessible from Bowness: go on a Windermere ferry, or visit by public and private transport. Bowness Pier is a 5-minute walk from Blenheim Lodge, from which visitors can board ferries to Waterhead, only a short and pleasant 15-minute walk into Ambleside.
