The Lake District National Park is beautiful in all seasons, including the festive New Year period. At Blenheim Lodge, we have late availability rooms with excellent views of Lake Windermere and the fells and would be delighted to welcome guests looking for a New Year retreat in our AA 4-Star guest house located in Bowness-on-Windermere, in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Why not come and visit with us for a few days and enjoy a restful break after a busy Christmas and before you return to the busyness of daily life in 2105?

My son took this photo of the view from our front porch at Blenheim Lodge today. Aren't the colours gorgeous? Guests can see this view from practically all our bedrooms and our lounge.

We open for the New Year period from 28th December with prices ranging from ONLY £46-£76 per person per night for Bed and Breakfast. Book a stay with us by telephone, e-mail, through the booking link on this blog or on our own website, and we will include a COMPLIMENTARY ballotin of 8 luxury handmade chocolate truffles (normally worth £8.75) with any 3-night minimum stay between now and 4th January inclusive. Here are some images of a few available room types and the views from them.

If you are on a budget, one of our ground floor rooms is available starting from £46-£53.50 per person per night over the New Year festive period. This cosy room is decorated in Laura Ashley colours and soft furnishings, and furnished with some vintage pieces such as a pair of unusual flower motif wall lights and a quaint wardrobe. On the Feather and Black white-painted wrought iron bed is a luxurious 9-inch deep pocket sprung mattress from the upmarket bed shop, And So To Bed, which will guarantee guests a great night’s sleep.

Enjoy this Winter view from Blenheim Lodge Bed and Breakfast Guest House. Guests staying in The Poppies (and 9 other bedrooms) will be able to see this entrancing landscape from their room.

On the first floor of our Lodge is The Coniston, a standard 4-Poster room with lovely views of Lake Windermere and the fells that guests can enjoy even whilst in bed. Quite literally, if our guests do not draw their curtains before going to sleep at night, they will wake up to this amazing view below when looking out of their window. During the festive season, prices for The Coniston range from £55-£63.50 per person per night for bed and breakfast.

This is how the skies looked early this morning. By late morning, the clouds had been blown away by a brisk breeze, and only blue skies and bright sunshine remained. Then, in the afternoon, the rains started to arrive a little more steadily, making for a wetter day.

The Coniston room at Blenheim Lodge boasts an antique William IV 4-Poster draped with luxurious raw silk panels. On the bed is a comfortable handmade mattress sewn specially for us by Cockers, a third generation bedmaker.
Here is a picture of the detail we put into our rooms. Raw silk was sewn, hand-pinned, and attached to this unusual roof of our antique 4-poster bed in The Coniston room. I chose the fabrics and the seamstress was on-site to put everything up.

Next to The Coniston is Claife Heights, a standard double room with a cute bay window seat. Why not enjoy a cup of tea or coffee whilst resting on the window seat as you watch the world go by? Claife Heights enjoys 8 or so miles of wide ranging views over Lake Windermere and its backdrop of fells. Prices during the New Year festive season range from £52-£56.50 per person per night for bed and breakfast in the Claife Heights room.

The standard double room chosen by this family was Claife Heights, situated on the first floor of Blenheim Lodge with views of Lake Windermere and the fells.

All our bedrooms have shower en-suites, bar The Attic – the only room that comes with a bath: it is a deep freestanding claw-foot slipper bath reminiscent of the Victorian era. Attached to the bath is a handheld shower unit good for washing one’s hair but not for a stand-up shower. The quirkiness of The Attic lies in its location under the eaves, with beams dating from 1868 giving character to this romantic nest of a bedroom. The Attic is priced at £52.50-£56.50 per person per night including breakfast during the New Year period.

At night, some guests do not pull the blind down over the window in order to enjoy gazing at the stars as they lay in bed, whilst being lulled to sleep by the quiet peace of the night.

The Fairfield offers spacious accommodation with a king-size bed and daybed tucked into its huge 7-8 foot triple floor to ceiling bay windows from whence is a magnificent view to Lake Windermere and the northern fells to the left. Directly before the windows are more high fells, complimented by a righthand-side view to The Dales Way long distance footpath winding its way up and over Brantfell at the rear of our guest house. The French antique daybed in The Fairfield has a regular single-sized mattress so up to 3 people can share this room. Tariffs for The Fairfield start at £70-£76 per person per night B&B for the first 2 people sleeping either double or twin occupancy during the festive season. The tariff for the third person is £40 per night, including breakfast.

Blenheim Lodge is fortunate to enjoy such stunning Lake and mountain scenery – views which all our guests share with us. Even our single en-suite rooms can boast some truly fantastic views, such as that seen from The Eyrie. We have 3 shower en-suite single rooms, all of which have views of Lake Windermere and the fells, ranging in price from £61-£64 per room per night B&B during the New Year period.

The Eyrie is furnished with an antique Queen Anne single bed and other English antique furniture, including a Victorian washstand fitted with an up to date basin for modern use!

One of my favourite rooms at Blenheim Lodge is The Dalesway, the only bedroom not to have a lake view. As Blenheim Lodge is nestled into a fell, Brantfell, and The Dalesway sits at the rear of the property, The Dalesway has views to The Dales Way walk and woodlands on Brantfell instead. The tranquil atmosphere of this pretty room is enhanced by French antique painted furniture dating from the late 1890s but in the style of Louis XV, with relaxing decor by Laura Ashley. Like The Fairfield room, The Dalesway can sleep up to 3 people, with its double bed and single daybed, the latter of which has a regular single mattress. Tariffs for The Dalesway during the festive season ranges from £65-£75 per person per night for the first 2 people for double or twin occupancy, and £40 per night for the third person, all inclusive of breakfast.

I hope you have enjoyed finding out more about our rooms at Blenheim Lodge. Do come and join us over the New Year season and take in some of the spectacular scenery from our rooms and the rest of the Lake District in person. We look forward to having you to stay with us.
