Do you enjoy lazy days? Time out for doing things at your leisure or even not doing anything at all? I love lazy days. They allow me to curl up on a sofa and read to my heart’s content. The TV remains switched on in the background, sound off – the latter ready to be turned on again should anything of interest crop up. Meanwhile, all is quiet, and calm descends around me.
Lazy day strolls and ferry rides
Have you thought of taking some lazy days out from your hectic world? Imagine downing tools at home or work, and taking a breather now, before the busy holiday season. Put on your walking boots and, childlike, shuffle noisily through crackly fallen leaves, or kick them up high with abandon. Or how about a ferry ride upon the deep blue waters of Windermere, where stunning scenery surrounds you with every crest of an undulating wave.
Lazy day easy walks or fell hikes
You could, of course, eschew the woodland walks and ferry rides and head for the fells instead! The Lake District is known for its magnificent fells, many with their contours mapped and recorded for both invigorating and less strenuous walks by the famous fell walker, Alfred Wainwright. These hikes range from the very difficult and not so easily accessible to those which are both level and easily reached by public and private transport. There is something for everyone, including paved footpaths with strategically placed benches for the weary of feet.
Lazy day explorations
Don’t fancy a walk or ferry ride? How about a lazy day exploring small towns, villages, or hamlets in the Lakes? These are usually picturesque, and located by or near lakes, fells and rivers. Often, there are local attractions, and good eateries to check out, including local pubs, cafes, and teashops. And if you fancy purchasing a keepsake or two of your lazy day out, you will find unique shops in abundance in places like Bowness on Windermere, Grasmere, and Keswick.
