I love looking at Autumn leaves. They are a vista of variegated earthy tones, with bright sparks of orange, red and yellow, and they form a glorious cloak of colours on deciduous trees and plants that are a wonder to behold. And, I adore carpets of Autumn leaves. When I lived in Canada especially, I truly enjoyed the childish pleasure of kicking up my heels as I walked ankle-deep in crackly autumnal leaves, simply for the delight of watching the kaleidoscope of yellows, reds and golds fall down to earth again!
The woods behind our house, Blenheim Lodge, are now boasting some beautiful colours as October comes into its own. Indeed, it was just at the end of September that I noticed some reds and golds gracing one of the trees. Our Dalesway room overlooks the woodlands and guests who stay in this room often enjoy the tranquillity it offers as they gaze out over the wooded fell that forms a backdrop to Blenheim Lodge.
Blenheim Lodge overlooks Lake Windermere and a guest once took photos of Autumn’s crowning glory from his room, The Langdale, which I am sharing here. This view can also be seen and enjoyed from many of our other lake view rooms.
