It was like walking into another world: and I was all eyes agog, trying to take in the stunning Autumn colours and beautiful scenery of this lovely little piece of Lakeland magic. Located just 5 minutes from Blenheim Lodge, our guest house in Bowness on Windermere, we strolled from the noisy busy main road into a different dimension of singing cascades rushing down into a small stream accompanied by sweetly tweeting birdlife. Carpeting the ground were red-gold Autumn leaves from ancient trees, their height and canopied branches creating a peaceful welcoming vibe that cocooned one from the busyness of daily life.

The Millerground waterfall is not particularly high or large, but what it is is very picturesque! As the saying goes, ‘Good things come in small packages!’ I have put up a video of the waterfall on our Facebook page.

There is a little stone bridge that crosses the stream at the bottom of the cascade.

We crossed the bridge and went onwards along an uphill path which opened onto a gravelled lane, and hence to the shores of Windermere, where I took a photograph of photographer at work on the pier!

From the lake, we turned onto Rayrigg Meadow and then climbed up Queen Adelaide’s Hill. Then it was home to Blenheim Lodge, where we sat down for a well-deserved cup of tea!
