It was last week on Thursday when I finally managed to get out of our house! Over the past weeks, I have been diligently staying up nights, whilst working days and nights, in an effort to get our new website ready for going live on Wednesday, 15th July. I am glad to report that the website is indeed now live.
We went to Coniston on Thursday because we had to pay a visit to an upholsterer. (So it was still work anyway!) We have two lovely dainty 18th century chairs from France, which usually sit in The Blue Room, one of our standard double rooms. Unfortunately, a couple of guests had torn the silk upholstery on the chairs by putting their luggage on them and so we needed to get them recovered. Suffice to say that the price was eye-watering at more than £500 to get them restored!
Anyway, whilst we were in Coniston, we decided to take our faithful hound, Zack, for a walk by the lake. Coniston is a village in the Lake District National Park, with the Old Man of Coniston towering over it. On the water, England’s third largest lake also plays host to a restored Victorian gondola and a couple of solar launches offering scenic rides to visitors.

It was a glorious, though windy, day, but nice weather for a leisurely stroll with our elderly Pyrenean. Coniston is not far from our Bowness guest house, Blenheim Lodge, and it is but a 20-minute or so drive to the village if taking the shorter route via Windermere car ferry. Otherwise, like us, you could take the scenic road route instead, which will double the time to get there!
The Lake District National Park is full of precious gems that lift the spirits: from pretty waterfalls to hidden tarns; from larger lakes like Coniston and Windermere to outstanding scenery among its low and higher fells. Why not pay a visit to our gorgeous part of the world and stay with us for a few days to explore the Lakes? You can be sure of finding a warm welcome here!

Blenheim Lodge . . . panoramic Lake views, peace and tranquillity, nestled against acres of beautiful fields and woodlands, in the heart of the English Lake District National Park.’
