It has been a lovely day today in Bowness-on-Windermere. From our guest house, Blenheim Lodge, we are able to enjoy some truly spectacular views of Lake Windermere and the fells beyond from our B&B. I took a couple of photos in the morning when the sun was out, and then later on when it began to snow. I hadn’t realised that the weather would change, so I am glad I took those photos both in the morning and late afternoon.

The following photos were taken this morning from our Bed and Breakfast.

The Eyrie is so called because it really feels like one is in an eyrie in this room because of its cosiness under the eaves and the fabulous views of Lake Windermere and the fells from it.

By mid-afternoon, snow began to fall – slowly at first, then a little more furiously, but by no means heavy. However, as you can see from the photo below, life goes on as usual and Windermere’s attractions are open as normal.

The view from The Langdale bedroom this afternoon. Snowflakes and failing light cast a bluish tinge over the lake, where ferries continue to cross the water from village to village.

I asked my son to take a photo of the snow falling over Bowness and Lake Windermere, and here it is:

I mustn’t forget a photo of the equally beautiful Brantfell at the back of our Bowness B&B. Here is a photo taken from The Dalesway bedroom as snow began to fall.
