In my previous post, I enumerated three attractions which might be of interest to visitors to the Lakes over May Day Bank Holiday weekend. Also known as the Early May Bank Holiday weekend, most of Britain’s workforce will enjoy an extra day’s rest on Monday, thereby giving most everyone a much desired long weekend at the beginning of May. The Lake District, a veritable playground for those who appreciate outstanding scenery, amazing outdoor and indoor attractions and activities, and wonderful hospitality, will play host to lots of things to see and do this Early May Bank Holiday weekend. And we, at Blenheim Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Bowness-on-Windermere, would love to welcome you all to stay at our 4-star guest house, where you may enjoy some truly lovely views of Lake and mountains from your rooms!

Three Activities to Enjoy This Weekend
Have you always wanted to try your hand at orienteering? Well, here is your opportunity – and what a place to learn how to do so! No less than the spectacular Grasmere fells, only 10 miles from our guest house, Blenheim Lodge. Join the navigation skills event on 2nd May:
Navigation skills for beginners is an opportunity to learn basic navigation skills in small, friendly groups on the Grasmere fells with map and compass provided. Boots and lunch are essential and booking is required either online or call 0845 272 0004.

One of the activities being offered by the Lake District National Park during this Early May Bank Holiday weekend is birdwatching at Brockhole, a mere 2 miles from Blenheim Lodge and easily reachable by ferry, bus or car. The former two modes of transport are located approximately 7 minutes’ walk from our house. This event is being held on 3rd May:
Volunteers are in the bird hide at Brockhole to help you identify a wide variety of birds and animals in the woodland surrounding the Lake District Visitor Centre. This is a free event and is suitable for those with a hearing impairment or limited mobility. Public transport is available to the start point. No booking required, just turn up.

Also on 3rd May is something that will appeal to the child in all of us – a tea party with Peter Rabbit! The tea party will be held at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, a literal 5-minute walk from our front door!
Enjoy a scrumptious party lunch with your favourite character, Peter Rabbit™. There are sixteen tea parties being held during 2015 at The World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere. There will be sandwiches, crisps and cakes galore and a guest of honour will read you a story. You will then have the chance to explore all the tales by visiting the attraction after the party. Fun for all the family, although Tea With Peter Rabbit is a very popular event and booking is essential.
