It’s odd how things come to mind when one is sitting in a car and driving along a motorway. As Hubby drove and my mind went into idling mode whilst contemplating the drab grey of bleak unending road, I found myself thinking about how beautiful the Lake District is and how one might attract more people to come and enjoy its lovely landscapes. Then a phrase came into my head: ‘Room Grabs’!
At Blenheim Lodge, our 4-star B&B in the Lake District National Park, we enjoy an abundance of peace and quiet, great Lake and fell views, and offer a serene environment for people looking for a relaxing getaway. We are located off the main thoroughfare, only 5 minutes’ walk to the centre of Bowness town, its local amenities, attractions, and Lake Windermere. Our home itself nestles into a fell – Brantfell – and is the first guest house off The Dales Way Walk, a long distance footpath that begins in Ilkley and ends in Bowness. Blenheim Lodge was built as the grand holiday home of a Victorian gentleman in 1868. Situated on a hill to take full advantage of the tremendous views below and to the skyline, Blenheim Lodge is one of the very small number of accommodation providers in the Windermere area that offer handsome Lake Windermere and countryside views. Full of character and quirks, this B&B is a 4-star guest house serving breakfasts that feature flavoursome local produce with hand-cut bacon and butcher sausage handmade to a specific recipe just for us. Milk and eggs, sourced locally, are delivered fresh each morning by the local dairy. Our rooms feature handmade beds and deep comfortable mattresses, all to promote a good night’s sleep. Each room is unique and has its own wee name. All are decorated with Laura Ashley colours and soft furnishings, and furnished in ways that are in keeping with the era of the house. Many rooms, as you will see on our website, feature antique furniture.
