September days . . . late summer . . . it’s time to enjoy the last few days of this year’s wonderful summer weather and to look forward to the glorious colours of autumn. From Blenheim Lodge, we have a fantastic view of Lake Windermere and the fells, and as seasons change over, we are able to enjoy some truly spectacular late summer and autumn colours.
The vibrant greens of summer continue in evidence everywhere, and we currently have cows feasting on the verdant fields behind our guest house. Meanwhile, we have been having a mixture of rain and sunshine. Today, for instance, the day started out very fine, but by late afternoon, a soft but steady drizzle had begun and continues as I write.
The gorgeous colours of high summer can still be seen amongst flowering shrubs and plants in the Lake District. These are as evident in small towns, villages and hamlets throughout the Lakes, as they are in Lakeland’s wild and wonderful places.
