Make it a lazy day weekend every time! And Take some lazy days out at Blenheim Lodge and Lake Windermere!
Follow our Great Dane’s lazy day example

I was wondering what to write about when I heard Horatio snoring. Up and down, up and down, went his snorting, whistling breaths. Sometimes, the pitch was so loud and high, it was a wonder he didn’t wake himself up!
Our gentle Blue Great Dane boy is easygoing. Give him his very own comfy couch or a soft puffy duvet next to a warm radiator to lay upon, and he will be quite happy and satisfied. Sometimes he stretches his – almost – full length out, but mostly he likes to curl up tightly, almost into a ball, if you could call a huge irregular lump a ball!
A lazy day weekend by Lake Windermere
At Blenheim Lodge, our Bowness on Windermere B&B, we are good at promoting lazy day weekend breaks in the Lake District.
Lounge about!
We have a lovely lounge with comfortable chairs and a 3-seater couch where guests can chat; sit and read to their heart’s content; bring their favourite card and board games to play; watch television; use their tech devices; do jigsaw puzzles on Grandma’s antique coffee table or spread them out on our wool-carpeted floor. Ask us to serve you with hot drinks and biscuits whilst you laze about, and enjoy your lazy day weekend!

We advertise Blenheim Lodge B&B as a peaceful retreat that is a close 5-minute walk to all local amenities and attractions. Aside from days out, most guests who stay with us often want to relax in their rooms or our guest lounge. Many enjoy watching the world go by – by which I mean looking out to Lake Windermere and the near and distant fells, and observing their ever-changing “faces”. Often, there are yachts bobbing and racing on the water. And, because the weather on the Lake can be eminently changeable, it is always entertaining to see how quickly its mood can change at times.

Many guests tell us that they simply like the quiet relaxation to be found in our house as they rest and recharge their batteries after long hours at work.
Walk about!
Alright! This may not sound too lazy a thing to do; but, remember, you can do this at your own pace.
First things first! Do you enjoy shopping? Well, if your answer is “Yes!”, then you’re in for a treat!

There are dozens and dozens of shops, including many independent ones, for you to visit and buy from to your heart’s content. Shops range from those selling clothing and footwear, including outdoor gear; stationery and kitchen goods; boutique bath and beauty lotions and potions; jewellery; artwork; chain stores such as Tesco and Co-op outlets; and even a place selling car parts!
Dreaming of a home on the Mere? How about buying a yacht? You can buy one or more from the advertisers at Bowness Bay!

Sit about!
Fancy a movie? How about visiting the Art Deco Royalty Cinema 5 minutes’ walk from our front door? It’s a modernised 3-screen theatre and plays the latest films, with a beautifully restored period auditorium and Wurlitzer organ. Imagine a couple of lazy hours watching a film with popcorn and soft drink in hand. What a marvellous way to laze and relax!

And other places to sit about? Let’s see now . . . there are purpose-built benches on Bowness Promenade and Pier where you can watch the world go by. Other areas very close by are The Glebe and along the walk to Cockshott Point. Look out for greedy ducks and geese which waddle up for breadcrumbs. Other birds, of course, join in the food fest as visitors throw handfuls of bread crumbs into the air.
Sail about!
Do you enjoy being on the water? How about sailing on England’s largest natural body of water? Lake Windermere is but a 5-minute walk from Blenheim Lodge, and you can board ferries which take you from Bowness Pier to Waterhead and Lakeside. Enjoy your lazy day in either location or both, and perhaps even hop onto the heritage train at Lakeside to Haverthwaite for a visit to the motor museum.

Of course, it is also possible to enjoy a meal aboard a yacht on Windermere. (We can help arrange this.) Alternatively, if you prefer incredible views of the Lake from dry land, there are many diners to choose from in the vicinity.
Gad about!
Gadding about the Lake District is highly recommended!

There is plenty to see and do, but if you are making it a lazy day weekend – hey! you can also make it a lazy anytime, not just the weekend – then you might like to consider taking a door to door tour from Blenheim Lodge, so that there’s no need to mess about with navigating the Lake District’s narrow twisty roads and finding your way. It’s the easiest lazy day out kind of touring! Let us arrange this for you, and enjoy your stress-free day!
