With its magnificent mountains which locals term ‘fells’; beautiful tarns, meres, waters, and (one) lake large and small; pretty becks, trickling streams and flowing rivers; small cascades and high waterfalls; green swathes of verdant countryside crisscrossed with numerous footpaths leading to rural delights, the Lake District is a place of romance – FABULOUS FOR A ROMANTIC BREAK! There is so much to see and do in the Lakes, and where better to begin this journey than in Bowness-on-Windermere in the heart of the Lake District National Park? Our guest house, Blenheim Lodge, is quietly located in this pretty village, with easy access to road and water transport in and around the Lakes.

For the romantic at heart, how about starting at the beginning? First, book a room with a view! We have sweet rooms to choose from with tariffs to suit all pockets, from £107 per night to £153 per night for double rooms with fabulous Lake Windermere and/or fell views.

The Langdale
Book The Langdale for far-reaching panoramic Lake and fell views and a comfortable four-poster bed. There is a small shower en-suite.

Then, how about considering what the Lake District has to offer by way of things to see and/or do?

  • Five minutes’ walk from Blenheim Lodge Guest House is Bowness village centre and Lake Windermere, and all the amenities and attractions they offer.
Cruise Windermere
Windermere Cruises, one of the most iconic attractions in the Lakes, is open year round.
  • Our Bed and Breakfast nestles into pretty Brant Fell; and, indeed, one of our bedrooms, The Dalesway, directly overlooks the fell. A literal minute’s stroll from our B&B leads to easy woodland paths on the fell where walkers can wander at will, perhaps to take in panoramic  viewpoints boasting amazing views.
Head a minute’s stroll uphill from Blenheim Lodge and wander onto Brant Fell, a gentle world of woodlands, fields and viewpoints.

  • Bowness is a bustling place, with plenty of shops for that last minute present! A nice meal? There are too many restaurants to count!

However, there are lots of other places to see and activities to enjoy within easy reach of Bowness too. Ambleside, for example, is a popular Lakeland village 4 miles north of Bowness, and can be reached by boat if one prefers not to take a bus or drive.

I mentioned cascades and beautiful Lakes. Here two of my favourite pictures!

Aira Force, possibly the best known waterfall in the Lake District, is a 45-minute ride from us at Blenheim Lodge.

This is the stunningly beautiful Tarn Hows.
