Single rooms in Bowness-on-Windermere

Bowness-on-Windermere is a bustling town with serviced accommodation to suit all budgets. Most hotels, guest houses, and small bed and breakfasts offer double, twin and family rooms, but not many have single rooms to let. At Blenheim Lodge, however, we have three single shower en-suite rooms with Lake Windermere views available for short and longer B&B stays.

Single rooms are great for individuals wishing to travel together but who do not want to share a room. It gives one one’s own personal space, and, best of all, one does not have to share bathing and toilet facilities. Guests who visit on their own do not have to pay for single occupancy in a double room if they do not require a double bed. Of course, at Blenheim Lodge, we do get guests who prefer double beds, in which case we will let out our double rooms for single occupancy at the going rates.

Blenheim Lodge is a warm and friendly place and we always try to make our single travellers feel at home. Booking into a single room does not mean that the lone traveller misses out on room quality. We take care when decorating and furnishing all our rooms, including our single rooms. Thus, just as our double, twin and triple rooms benefit from Laura Ashley soft furnishings, so do our single rooms. Other similarities which our single rooms share with our double, twin and triple rooms are quality Dorma bedding and luxury bath sheets and hand towels, flat screen televisions, hospitality trays and hairdryers.

Our love for antique furniture pieces can be seen in our single as well as our double, twin and triple rooms. Two of our single rooms have antique Queen Anne beds and one has an antique French bed, which is a generously sized 3’6″ wide. Two of our single rooms have views to the north of Lake Windermere and one boasts panoramic views of the Lake and mountains through a velux window.

Guests who book our single rooms usually come here for some peace and quiet. Many also come here to engage in various outdoor activities such as walking, climbing, fishing and so on. More sedate activities which our single guests enjoy include sightseeing and visiting indoor attractions, the latter of which comprise many stately homes and historic buildings with connections to literary and showbiz connections. Yet other guests love to tour the gardens of the Lakes, and some more artistic guests will also take time out to draw and paint.

Although Blenheim Lodge is only a 5-minute walk to Bowness town centre and Lake Windermere, our guest house is located away from the hurly burly and offers an oasis of calm for the serious or not so serious writer. Some single guests will stay with us in order to write their dissertations or novels. Others will treat Blenheim Lodge as a retreat, where they can read the Word, meditate as they walk through gorgeous countryside right on our doorstep, and pray.

August Bank Holiday weekend is coming and we still have two single rooms available.
