It has been a very busy week thus far, especially with the Bank Holiday and Jubilee long weekend rolled into one plus the school holidays. However, as the week comes to an end, the kids will be returning to school and the Lakes will become more of an adult zone again, certainly during the week, if not at weekends. At Blenheim Lodge, our Lake District guest house in Bowness-on-Windermere, we can offer some availability for this weekend and onwards; and we would love to welcome you to visit with us in the English Lake District.

Blenheim Lodge does not have quadruple rooms so in actual fact we do not see many kids staying at our Bowness Bed and Breakfast. We have triple, double, twin and single rooms, thus most kids that come here tend to be a little older. For example, we currently have a 10-year old here with his mother who are sharing a room, and a 14-year old here with her grandmother who have opted for two single rooms.

Most of our guests are either couples or single adults. Even during the school holidays as we are in now, out of 17 guests presently staying with us, 15 of them are adults. We have eight double rooms, two of which may also be used for twin or triple occupancy although these are more often used as doubles as we do not charge for a third person in these rooms unless there is a third person. The other three rooms are singles. Thus you can understand why most of our guests tend to be adults or older kids.

This is The Dalesway, one of our bedrooms that offers flexible sleeping configurations of double, twin and triple occupancy. This lovely bedroom is my favourite and overlooks fields and woodlands at the back of our Bowness Bed and Breakfast, Blenheim Lodge

As our thoughts turn to summer and the lushness of an English countryside surrounded by glinting lakes, why not consider a short or longer break with us at Blenheim Lodge? Our guest house is quietly situated by The Dales Way Walk, a long distance route through pretty fields and woodlands that traverses 84 miles from Ilkley, Yorkshire to Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria. Blenheim Lodge is the first guest house off The Dales Way in Bowness, an approximate minute’s stroll from the farm gate that opens out from the fells as you leave the trail. In fact, one of our rooms is named after The Dales Way as it overlooks the fields and woodlands of this well-known footpath.

For guests who wish to enjoy a peaceful break complete with views of Lake Windermere, Blenheim Lodge is located atop a hill and has far-reaching views of the Lake and mountains from 10 bedrooms. The guest house itself is about a 5-minute walk to the centre of Bowness town and the pier at Lake Windermere, but as it is situated off the busy main roads, guests at Blenheim Lodge are able to enjoy the quiet of a peaceful AA 4-star Bed and Breakfast with the convenience of being within close walking distance of all local amenities and attractions.

If you are thinking of taking a break with us, do consider booking a 7-night stay, and take advantage of our highly discounted weekly rates which are even lower than our nightly midweek midwinter rates. Someone booking on our weekly B&B rates will save at least £60-£150 per person off our standard rates. Our weekly rates are not applicable during public holiday long weekends and dates, but can be applied pro rata to any dates exclusive of these higher rated days when booking any 7-night minimum stay. All our rates include breakfast and VAT, the government’s Value Added Tax that we are registered to pay at 20% of the total value of any booking.

The Lake District has some really beautiful scenery and we do hope that you will come and enjoy it for yourselves. Take a look through my previous posts to check out some of the Lakeland beauty spots I have written about. There is much to see and do in the Lakes, both indoors and outdoors. Come and see for yourselves. Blenheim Lodge is located inside the Lake District National Park itself, and we are often awed by the stunning scenery that surrounds us. I am sure that you will enjoy our spectacular Lakeland landscapes and love this beautiful National Park as much as we do.

‘Blenheim Lodge . . . panoramic Lake views, peace and tranquillity, nestled against acres of beautiful fields and woodlands, in the heart of the English Lake District National Park.’
