Mountain Fell Peaks seen from Blenheim Lodge B&B | Bowness on Windermere | Cumbria Lake District

Spring is on the horizon, and Easter will soon be upon us! And as I sit typing this post in our guest lounge, I can hear the wild birds singing just outside our windows whilst simultaneously enjoying the gorgeous late afternoon light of this beautiful February day from the comfort of a cosy armchair. The sky is a canopy of various shades of blue and white. All is silent outside but for the occasional bursts of pretty birdsong, and one can literally hear the sound of silence. I love it!

Blenheim Lodge view through the green | Bowness on Windermere | Cumbria & Lake District
The view we and our guests enjoy from our accommodation at Blenheim Lodge snapped from Brant Fell at the back of our Bowness Bed and Breakfast. Lake Windermere and a fell is seen in the background.

Blenheim Lodge is situated on a fell top road named after the actual fell upon which we live – Brant Fell. There are walks galore to enjoy on and around this fell, including School Knott (which also has a tarn), simply by exploring the different trails which may be reached by just walking the minute or less from our front door to the farm gate opening onto The Dales Way Footpath. Keep exploring further afield and you’ll find trails which join other trails or minor roads leading to new paths and other discoveries! There is even a wetland area on Brant Fell, which is farmed organically.

The gentle quietness on the fell and the neighbourhood where our guesthouse is situated is perhaps one of the best things I like about Blenheim Lodge, living here as we do year round. Our Bed and Breakfast offers guests looking for a quiet retreat away from the madding crowd – a place where one can literally listen to the silence. Or hear the birds sing. I write this wishing I could put up a soundtrack of the pretty birdsong I’m listening to just now.

Guests tell us that Blenheim Lodge offers the best of both worlds! Our family home and Bed and Breakfast overlooks pretty fell woodland at the back, and offers Lake Windermere and fell views from our front and northwest facing windows. Visit our Blog posts and our website, and you’ll see that these views are far-reaching and/or extensive! However, when some walkers stayed with us in our only bedroom which overlooks the woodlands, they hit the jackpot! They saw shy wild deer from their windows!

Dalesway bedroom view @ Blenheim Lodge | Bowness on Windermere | Cumbria Lake District
The Dalesway is our only bedroom which fully overlooks Brant Fell, and also has a view to The Dales Way Footpath to the far left of this bay window. This is the room where two of our guests saw the wild deer that wandered near our hedge seen in this photograph.

Aside from The Dalesway bedroom which has fell and woodland views, all our other bedrooms offer Lake Windermere and fells views. The Dalesway is the only bedroom we have which can sleep up to three people. There is a double bed and a single bed in this shower en-suite room. The Dalesway is situated next to The Fairfield bedroom, so named because it offers amazing views over Lake Windermere to The Fairfield fell. This latter is our largest bedroom with a queen-size bed and a walk-in shower en-suite. Booking both rooms together would give guests a wing of our house during their stay with us.

All our rooms have shower en-suite facilities, bar one which has a private bathroom with a clawfoot slipper bath with a handheld shower. This is The Attic double bedroom, which has a Velux window offering panoramic views of Lake Windermere and fells. Next to it is The Eyrie single room which has a shower en-suite and also offers the same panorama from its Velux window. Guests booking both rooms would have the whole floor to themselves.

The Attic Room with a view
Our attic room enjoys stunning views of Lake Windermere from a velux window set in the ceiling on one side of the room. There is a private bathroom with a freestanding claw foot slipper bath.

This picture of Lake Windermere seen against a backdrop of fells was snapped from just one side of the triple bay windows in our guest lounge. There is more stunning scenery featuring more mountain peaks to be seen from our Bowness B&B accommodation.
