Enjoy trips on the ferries crisscrossing England’s largest lake. Our Bowness Bed and Breakfast overlooks the Lake Windermere, and this photo of a Windermere ferry sailing past was shot from The Attic bedroom at Blenheim Lodge. Windermere Lake Cruises operates the ferries all year round, except for Christmas Day, and their ferries sail both the length and breadth of the lake from a number of piers and jetties dotted along its shores.

Walk hand in hand: together, forever!

Have fun, discover, and enjoy!

Do you prefer indoor attractions or outdoor activities? Is either of you interested in history, historical homes, and estates? Do you enjoy shopping or sports activities? Or might you perhaps simply enjoy wandering about and coming upon new places and things you hadn’t expected to find?

Did you know that Prince Charles visited Watendlath, a National Trust hamlet, on 22nd May 1995? We never expected to find this stone plaque in all our wanderings around the Lakes.

There are, as you can imagine, lots of things to see and do in the Lake District National Park. How about a visit to the Arts and Crafts Blackwell House? It’s located a mere mile from our door, and a quick drive or taxi ride will take you there. Alternatively, if you can’t wait to get to Lake Windermere, why not stroll the 5 minutes it takes from our B&B to its shores? Cockshott Point, a quieter lakeside walk in Bowness, is very pretty and has direct access to the lakeshore. Moreover, it offers the perfect picturesque amble for a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend break in the Lake District!
