I thought, at the beginning of 2015, that it felt a slow moving year. Yet now it seems but the blink of an eye that the end of the year is nigh! 2015 will be over in just 31 days, and the world will be ushering in the new year of 2016 very soon. But, before that, we still have New Year’s Eve to recall auld lang syne.

New Year’s Eve: a time for looking forward but also a time to recall the past; a time to celebrate the good that is to come and also a time to commemorate all that was excellent in the past.

New Year’s Eve: a time to be with friends and family, to eat together, to laugh together, to take joy in each other.

New Year’s Eve: a time to come together before the busyness of life and work take over.

What will you be doing this New Year’s Eve?

The Lake District National Park is a wonderful part of the world to see in the New Year. Many attractions, activities, shops, restaurants and, of course, the most gorgeous scenery are open and available for the enjoyment of visitors to the area. Here are some suggestions.

  • How about a romantic getaway? ‘Just the two of us . . . ‘ as the lyrics of the song so passionately affirm.
  • Or make it a family occasion where you can spend together time doing things that you all enjoy: sightseeing, walking, shopping, dining out, etc.
  • Or perhaps consider meeting up with good friends you haven’t seen in a while? Could a New Year break together be a fabulous opportunity to catch up with each other?
  • Alternatively, some might say that New Year is a time for reflection. Why not? The Lake District, with its many spellbinding vistas laid out in vast areas of quietude where Nature can itself be an inspiration and, sometimes, even a revelation, is an apt place to visit for thoughtful contemplation.

At Blenheim Lodge, we have only recently decided to open for New Year and so have late availability for this time period. Come and join us for a New Year break whilst staying in rooms with amazing Lake and fell views. Our AA 4-Star B&B is quietly located, yet only a convenient 5-minute walk to all local attractions and amenities in Bowness centre.
