The English Lake District has some of the best scenery in the world. Like all areas of habitation, there are homes and buildings from which there are great views. Being elevated on a small fell, Blenheim Lodge is one of the very few serviced accommodation places in the Windermere area to boast fantastic views, some panoramic, from our guest rooms.

Here is a far-reaching view of Lake Windermere against a backdrop of Lakeland fells photographed from the viewpoint, Brantfell, which is 40 minutes’ walk from our front door. As you have probably guessed, the hillock Blenheim Lodge is situated upon is Brantfell, although our B&B is located lower down its slopes AND on a tarmac road.

A place to contemplate the world. Here is a photo of one of the viewpoints located behind our guest house. Brantfell is about 40 minutes' walk from our front door. Enjoy this stunning scenery when you stay at Blenheim Lodge. (Photo courtesy of www.cumbriaphoto.co.uk.)

Mountain tops are great outlooks for far-reaching views. Here is one of the Lowther Valley in the Eastern Lakes.

If you prefer not to hike or climb upwards for those views, how about riding a horse instead? It will save your legs and you will still enjoy some stupendous scenery when you reach a certain elevation. When the kids were very young, Hubby and I took them riding above Coniston Water. It was a ride to remember, not least because our 4-year old’s horse tripped suddenly and buckled a knee. However, our boy held his nerve, yanked the horse’s bridle and, with no fuss at all, continued to lead the line of horses. I think his parents and the guides were more petrified than he was!

Helvellyn is one of the best known fells in the Lake District. Did you know that you can cycle up this fell to enjoy some of the best Lakeland views?

Here is a lovely panoramic view of the Borrowdale Valley. I love the beautiful colours of this image and, of course, the incredible views taken from up high.
