blenheim lodge windermere guest house information and feedback

Blenheim Lodge is an AA 4-star Windermere guest house offering high quality services. We aim to provide that personal touch in all that we do, and want to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We try to help enquirers about our bed and breakfast as much as we can: from answering questions and arranging extras, to helping with transfer details, particularly for overseas guests.

Central Location

Guests staying at our bed and breakfast accommodation are within an easy walk of the centre of Bowness on Windermere and Lake Windermere, making Blenheim Lodge an excellent place for local sights, tours, and activities.

In addition, Blenheim Lodge is located in the heart of the English Lake District. This means that guests are never more than about an hour away from the furthest towns and villages from our bed and breakfast in Bowness on Windermere.

Blenheim Lodge is situated the South/Central Lakes, near the borders of the North Lakes, Lancashire, Yorkshire, and Scotland. For instance, Keswick, the main tourist town in the North Lakes, is only 35 minutes’ drive from our Windermere guest house. Lancaster, known for its excellent university and a beautiful town in its own right, is only 25 minutes’ drive. Harrogate, a pretty spa town in North Yorkshire, is an easy drive from Blenheim Lodge. And Gretna Green, famous for its blacksmith shop where eloping couples fled to be quickly married over the anvil, is also an easy commute from our Bowness guest house.

Guest Services

Blenheim Lodge is only registered to serve breakfast to guests staying at our guest house. However, help with booking dinner at local eateries, most of which are only a 5-minute walk away, is readily available to guests who wish us to make table reservations. Blenheim Lodge is also able to organise brunch, dinner, and cheese and wine sails on board a yacht for guests.

For guests who come without their own vehicle, Blenheim Lodge is more than happy to help arrange tours that pick up and drop off at our Windermere bed and breakfast accommodation. Exclusive private tours can also be arranged for guests who wish to have individually tailored outings in the Lake District and surrounding areas.

For guests interested in specific activities, Blenheim Lodge is able to organize bookings to include tuition or group tours. Two WAADA fishing permits covering many local lakes are available for our guests to use on a first come first served basis.

At Blenheim Lodge, we have even helped to organize mystery getaways and engagements for romantic breaks: from keeping hold of the engagement ring until the right time for the proposal to arranging flowers, champagne, luxury chocolate truffles and cakes with personal messages for the beloved, Blenheim Lodge has helped many couples to enjoy a great stay!

Lounge

If you are visiting with friends or family, or simply wish to enjoy the welcoming warmth of our fireplace, why not use the lounge where you can cosy-up for a little chat or curl up on the sofa with a good book?

The lounge in our Bowness guest house overlooks Lake Windermere. You can sit in the large triple bay windows and enjoy a lovely cup of tea or coffee, or a nice glass of wine, while admiring the spectacular lake and mountain views.

The peace and quiet are so calming and relaxing that we have known guests to fall asleep whilst relaxing in the lounge!

Breakfast

The Blenheim Lodge breakfast menu includes both meat and vegetarian options, and takes advantage of quality local produce, including handmade sausages and hand cut bacon. Milk and eggs are delivered fresh from the dairy each morning: the milk is still bottled the old fashioned way – topped with cream; eggs are large and have that tasty, fresh yolky flavour from orangey yolks. There is also a choice of oven-fresh croissants served with equally delectable muffins.

Ecologically Friendly

Blenheim Lodge is situated in the heart of the Lake District, one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring landscapes in the world. At the back of our guest house in Bowness on Widnermere is woodland and countryside, with three excellent view points and the Dales Way Footpath that wends all the way to the Yorkshire Dales. Set at the end of a hilly cul-de-sac, away from the noise and fumes of traffic and jostling crowds, Blenheim Lodge sits like a hidden gem, waiting to be found by guests who are looking for that special place of comfort and tranquility. For this reason, if nothing else, Blenheim Lodge is committed to looking after its surrounding environment so that many people now and in the future are able to continue to enjoy and be inspired by the beauty of this wonderful scenery.

At Blenheim Lodge, we recycle all our waste as much as we can. Plastics, paper, glass, and food waste are sorted out, including waste items discarded by guests. We encourage guests not to be wasteful with the use of scarce resources that contribute to their comfort, such as heat, light and water. Guests are also encouraged to walk to Bowness village centre as it is only a 5-minute stroll to the village and Lake Windermere, where local amenities and attractions are easily accessible, thereby saving on the carbon footprint. All these little exercises, though seemingly small, do help all of us to tread more softly and gently on the planet Earth.

Within our Windermere bed and breakfast, cloth, paper, metal and plastics are recycled for scrap usage. An environmentally approved boiler has been put in to increase the efficiency of the heating systems at this Windermere guest house. All radiators are fitted with thermostats so that they can be adjusted individually for more control.

The use of antique and vintage fittings and furniture in many rooms at Blenheim Lodge also promotes ecologically sound principles, creating at the same time a harmony of style and period character within this beautifully refurbished 19th century Victorian residence. Throughout our tenure at Blenhem Lodge, we have endeavoured to marry sound ecological principles with the running of this Windermere guest house accommodation without compromising on the quality and experience of guests at our 4-star bed and breakfast
